Founded in 2017, Colour Your Dreams works with young people across Gorj County, with a particular focus on those from marginalised communities, young people with disabilities, and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. It co-manages a local youth centre established as a legacy of Romania’s 2023 National Youth Capital programme, and works across youth participation, inclusion, career guidance and civic engagement. Within Safe Spaces it coordinates the project, leads the risk assessment work, and runs the pilot phase.

The problem
Young people take part in European mobility, volunteering and youth work programmes in their hundreds of thousands. The organisations that host them vary enormously in size and capacity — and safeguarding practice varies just as much. Some have well-developed systems. Many have goodwill, no framework, and no idea where to start.
Safe Spaces exists to close that gap: to give every organisation, whatever its size, a complete and usable safeguarding system.

The project
Safe Spaces is a Cooperation Partnership in the field of Youth, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. It runs from September 2025 to September 2027.

The partners
A public body founded by the Municipality of Elektrėnai, running the town’s youth centre, two open youth spaces in neighbouring towns, and mobile youth work in surrounding villages. It works extensively with young people not in education, employment or training, and holds Erasmus youth accreditation. Within Safe Spaces it leads the development of the safeguarding resources and pilots them with youth centres and community organisations in Lithuania.

EIVA hosts European Solidarity Corps volunteers each year and has developed curricula, toolkits and digital learning resources on human rights, active citizenship, entrepreneurship and social inclusion. Within Safe Spaces it leads the design of the courses and the face-to-face training for facilitators.

Volonteurope is a member of the Civil Society Liaison Group at the European Economic and Social Committee and of the Conference of INGOs at the Council of Europe. Within Safe Spaces it leads dissemination, validates the materials against European policy, and hosts the final conference in Brussels.
