What this course covers
Risk assessment is the part of safeguarding that prevents harm rather than responding to it. This course explains the difference between a hazard and a risk, how to score risk by likelihood and impact, and how to build a risk register your organisation will actually maintain. It covers what changes when a project involves participants under 18, travel, overnight stays, online sessions or partners in other countries, and how to turn an assessment into an action plan with named owners and deadlines.

Project coordinators, safeguarding leads, and anyone who plans activities.
By the end of this course
you will be able to
Explain the difference between a hazard and a risk
Score a risk by likelihood and impact, and justify the score
Complete a safeguarding risk assessment for a planned activity
Identify which additional measures apply for under-18s, travel, residentials and online sessions
Convert identified risks into an action plan with owners and deadlines
Follow the procedure for a project running in more than one country
